The Hunter fire station is located on the 400 block of N. Main Street in Hunter.  Bradley Nitch is the Hunter rural fire chief.

Volunteer firefighters for Hunter are: Robert Wiles, Dale Ahlvers, Mark Brummer, Terri Cannon, Darrell Cheney, Clarence Davenport, Richard Davenport, Larry Gronewoller, Mark Heller, Jeffrey Hollerich, Mark Jensen, Max Keller, Ricahrd Keller, Art Leonhart, Bradley Nitch, Max Pounds, Steve Schneider, Douglas Sulsar, Ronald Sutton, Leslie Joe Zachgo, Jeremiah Zachgo, and Jess Zachgo.

Hunter has five fire trucks and Chief Wiles said that they have applied for a grant for new pagers and radios.
