First Rural Fire District

The First Rural Fire District is composed of the City of Lincoln, part of Marion, Beaver, Franklin and Elkhorn townships, as well as Indiana and Valley townships.

Lincoln’s fire tucks are housed in the emergency services building at 102 N Sixth Street.  The department has four brush units, a new four door pumper, a tanker and an old tanker according to fire Chief Jay Core.

Chief Core, said that the department’s newest piece of equipment is the new pumper that they obtained in 2004 through a FEMA grant, which cost $117,000.

Volunteer firefighters for the first district are: Jay Core, Greg Babcock, Russ Black, Keith Buttenhoff, Terry Finch, John Gardner, Todd Haring, Rick Lund, Tim Meier, Mike O’Hare, Craig Stertz, Mike Street and Devon Walter.
